Discovering Secret Beach as a Real Estate Investment

We first came across the idea of looking at Belize, and later on at Secret Beach, as a place to invest in real estate around the end of 2018. I heard a podcast by the Real Estate Guys Radio Show. They discussed the benefits of Belize from the standpoint of a real estate investor and immediately I was intrigued.

I would then spend the next 18 months investigating all I could about Belize as a place for off-shore real estate investing. I liked the idea of diversifying my real estate to include international holdings and Belize seemed to fit all my criteria for what I considered a strong investment.

In the last two years, we have gone from never even having been to Belize, to becoming a developer of turn-key rental properties in an area of Belize called Secret Beach.

It all started with a single idea.

Our Strategy for Investing in Belize

Through a combination of research and personal goals, we developed what we thought would be a great project that we could have fun doing, while at the same time providing an amazing and unique experience for our guests as well as our investors.

So we set about creating a product that would offer the top things that today’s travelers are looking for when visiting a Caribbean country like Belize. These top desires of travelers are as follows;

Gone are the days of a regular old hotel stay. Sure a hotel can be nice. You may go with a certain brand and you can pretty much know what you’ll get each time.

But today’s traveler wants more. They want to find adventure through a unique and interesting stay. For us, that meant building cool individual tiny-home casitas that are located in the heart of Ambergris Caye Belize.

2. Nature Based Experience

The second thing modern travelers want is to be closer to nature and more connected to the natural world. This was highlighted recently in Forbes magazine when they picked Belize as one of the best places to travel. One of the main reasons was that people are increasingly looking to connect and Belize offers the chance to connect to both people and nature in a fun and friendly way.

We also had this in mind when we picked Secret Beach as a place to invest in real estate. It offered the best of both a nature-based stay while at the same time being close to the fun and excitement of Secret Beach.

3. Environmentally Friendly

Sustainable travel was at the top of almost everyone’s list. Luckily Secret Beach delivers on that too. Secret Beach is a growing town on the island of Ambergris Caye in Belize.

Currently, the entire area requires off-grid components to provide a comfortable stay. Air conditioning is powered by solar panel systems. Water is collected in rain barrels.
